Web’s Yellow Pages

They are all over the internet. Some are free, some are requiring you to be a member. But what are these things am I talking about? Are they useful to us?

First and foremost, I really assume you are wondering as you read this why have I entitled this post as ‘Web’s Yellow Pages’. Well, wonder no more. Well, as for fashion, yellow pages is that what phone come up with. You see the phone numbers in it. But for a change, web directories don’t have phone numbers, but they do have websites.

It’s already a common knowledge to every blogger (unless you’re new in blogosphere) what does a web directory mean. And for the sake for those who do not know yet, let me define it. Webdirectory is an online directory,of course. Just like the classic phone directory which enlists phone numbers, web directory itself lists all the websites submitted to it. And please do take note of this very very important thing, WEB DIRECTORIES are NOT THE SAME with SEARCH ENGINES! That’s according to my research. The two of them are far way too different. A search engine is designed to search websites based on keywords which are basically the input of the user, whilst the web directory lists the web sites it has through categories and sub-categories. Now hopefully you understand the difference between the two.

So much for that let us move on, one good example of a good web directory is the SEO friendly web directory. (For further details, try searching the web). And in addition to that, Yahoo also got it’s own namely http://dir.yahoo.com.

Another thing about a web directory is that it helps bloggers a lot. Wo0oho0o! I know you’re excited! Yes, web directories help bloggers. How? They increase the page rank of a certain blog fast. Simple submit your articles on a web directory. How can you find them? Just try googling and a whole bunch of result will be given. What I mean is that, there are so many web directories scattered in the vast internet. So you don’t have to worry as to where are you gonna find one.

Web directories nowadays are very helpful means in page ranks. Bloggers should take advantage at them. I mean, the more directories there are, the more chances of increasing your page rank. Lol!

As I have said earlier to this post, web directories differ from it’s services, which are, of course, depending on it’s payment. There are Free Submission, Reciprocal, Paid submission, Featured listing, bidding for position and lastly, affiliated links. I have tried free submission and reciprocals, they’re like exchanging links with our co-bloggers. I have not experienced the others, might you’ll be able to do it. Haha.
